A man of Historical Power and Wisdom
After seceding his father, King David, Solomon became the supreme unchallenged ruler of Canaan. Soon after he became king God appeared to Solomon and bestowed upon him the gift of wisdom. With this new gift Solomon led the Hebrew people in an age of great peace. He became known as one of the greatest leaders of his time and this became part of his legacy. As the king of Israel he believed that the capital should reflect it's king's glory. He secured the wealth for this project by fortifying the trading towns in his kingdom. With the newly accumulated wealth he constructed fantastic palaces and finished erecting a great wall around Jerusalem. As a final act of glory he constructed a magnificent temple to God atop Mt. Moriah in which the Ark of the Covenant was stored. Toward the end of his reign King Solomon's great kingdom slowly fell apart due to his newly introduced belief in idols. It's economy dropped out from beneath it and the people rebelled against their king. After Solomon's days came to a fold the Jewish kingdom split back into the original 12 tribes. Over all, King Solomon had a very successful time as the leader of Israel that gave him a strong central legacy.
